2023 Silver Morgan Dollar MS-70 PCGS (FirstStrike)
The Morgan Dollar, originally designed by U.S. Mint Chief Engraver George T. Morgan (1845–1925), was minted from 1878 to 1904, and again in 1921. This iconic silver dollar symbolized America’s westward expansion and industrial growth during the late 19th century.
Now, using advanced modern technology and historical assets from the U.S. Mint, the Morgan Dollar has been reimagined with a stunning uncirculated finish, honoring its legacy while embracing the future.
In 2021, the U.S. Mint commemorated the 100th anniversary of the transition from the Morgan Dollar (last minted in 1921) to the Peace Dollar (first minted in 1921) by releasing modern tribute coins featuring both designs. These 2021 versions were struck in .999 fine silver, rather than the original 90% silver, and were met with overwhelming enthusiasm from dealers and collectors alike, especially given the limited mintages. This strong demand from collectors led to the U.S. Mint deciding to continue the series:
